Dots per inch (dpi) is the resolution of a file when printed to a certain size. The higher the dpi the better the quality of the final print out. Ideal dpi is 300 however images with a dpi of 100 may be acceptable. When taking images on digital cameras, set it at the highest resolution, ie. a 2048 x 1536 will mean that the ideal print size would be 20" x 15". It is important to maintain the aspect ratio when enlarging on either side. If it is not possible to print to your exact size requirements, or that your image quality is not good enough, we will advise you.
We will be more than happy to enhance your photo, remove any marks or blemishes as well as red eye reduction prior to creating your photo to canvas or photo to painting, we will also take out camera dates and add test should you wish it. There is no extra charge for this service. However any other amendment will incur a nominal charge, just let us know what you would like done.
No, definately not!! the photo is not manipulated using filters etc but actually painted using a digital canvas and digital brushes, We see so many sites stating that they can 'paint your photo' some charging twice as much asfyneart.com but in fact what they are clearly doing is manpulating a photograph to get a desired effect, it might be good 'photo shopping' but it is not art. Some sites even state that their product ('painting') takes 4 to 5 weeks to produce, quite untrue, infact our artist could replicate what they do in a matter of minutes not days or weeks.
Take a closer look at our so called rivals, look closely at there images, do you see brush strokes - no, why - because there are none. Dont settle for second best, when you can save money and have a painting you can be proud of.
A file will be made available to you as a copy proof of your photo to painting should you ask for one, completely free of charge, but please note different monitors and TFT screens will have different colour settings.
This is where the image goes around the frame on all 4 sides. The canvas will be stretched and wrapped around the edges. The corners will be carefully folded and tucked in, the canvas on the back of the frame will be covered by tape to give a finished look. Therefore it is important to ensure that the main subject of the image is not too close to the edges to prevent it from going around the sides 1.5" to 2" of space around the main image is enough to apply the wrapping technique. Alternatively, you can go for a plain edge where the sides have the natural colour of the canvas with your whole image remaining on the front, you may also choose that the edge be a specific colour, for example to match your hanging wall.
We print on 390gsm cotton artist canvas, using pigmented inks which are UV protected fade resistant. The expected life expectancy of canvas prints is at least 75 years, providing they are kept out of extreme conditions.
All images will be stretched around adjustable wooden bars. We offer 2 types of bars either a 18mm or 38mm deep. They have a rounded edge on 1 side to ensure the canvas is kept above the stretcher bar. In addition the bars also allow for wedges to be placed in each corner. On the larger frames, we may include centre bars for added protection.
No problem, simply inform us and we will be more than happy to send it as an unstretched image, please let us know if you would like us to add the borders should you choose to have it stretched in the future. Prices for this service are detailed on our prices page for both photo to canvas and photo to painting.
Contact us with your requirements, and we will be happy to quote you.

Mostly, we use Royal Mail's 1st class post and we always obtain a certificate of posting. We also use a number of other courier services for the larger and heavier shipments. As parcels are quite large, someone will need to accept them in person. Should this be a problem at your home address, we recommend providing an alternate address such as work etc.
To ensure your stretched canvas reaches you in the safest possible way, we will wrap it with kraft paper before multiple wrapping with bubblewrap for extra protection. Due to the size of the parcels someone may need to be around to accept delivery.
Our normal dispatch time is upto 14 working days for a 'photo to canvas' from receipt of an approved photo and cleared payment , this may be slightly longer if we are making any adjustments. However, the majority of the time it will be sent a lot quicker. If you require your order urgently please let us know and we will try to be accommodating. Photos to paintings do take longer as the process of painting takes a considerable time and each painting is unique, with that in mind please allow between 25 and 31 days, we will try to keep well within these times but art is a tricky business and im sure you will agree when get your finished painting that it was well worth the wait.
No, your canvas will be delivered ready to hang on your walls at no additional charge. All we recommend is that you hang your canvas away from extreme conditions such as high temperatures and bright lights.
Will my image be edited before production?
Yes. the image you send will be enhanced if required before it is processed. You should if possible stipulate any requirements you have at the time of ordering. Please do not crop the image sent to us unless you send the original with the cropped image. It is helpful to us if you do include a cropped image to give us an idea of what you are looking for in a painting but the original image should accompany the cropped. You can do this two ways, the first using photo editing software, the second by optaining a print or photocopy and cutting to size with scissors.
Can i have something removed from the image?
Yes thats no problem, just let us know what you want removed, for example blemishes on the skin, a hair in the wrong place, these small details are removed on your request free of charge. If you should require large ares of change in your photo please get in contact as there may be an additional charge.
To maintain & increase the lifespan of your canvas, do not expose to continuous, strong sunlight or moisture. Do not clean with a wet/damp cloth; a light vacuum with the brush attachment will get rid of any dust on the surface.
What is a copy proof?
A copy proof takes the form of an image that will be sent to you for approval prior to your canvas being made. You will be sent this by email or by a link where you can download the image file. You should then inform us (quoting any references given) that you formally approve the image and wish to proceed with the transaction. Should you in the unlikely event not wish to proceed to a full production we will refund you 40% of your initial payment excluding any non-refundable deposit paid.
Should it be your wish not to proceed your painting will be kept for you for upto 14 days. Should you return to fyneart.com and wish the painting to go to its final stage within that time period, all you have to do is pay the remainder of your balance. After the 14 days has passed your painting will still be available to you although your original deposit will no longer be valid and full payment will be required before delivery.
